 2023 Preview

Randolph County completed the 2022 season with a 8-3 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region four, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Randolph County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Alabama Christian by a score of 63-30.

The Tigers hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Prestridge saw improvement as they won eight games following a 1-9 record in 2021.

Since 2010, Randolph County has gone a combined 104-49. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Randolph County has managed to compile a record of 183-108. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 3A and 76th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers are led by head coach Pat Prestridge who is entering his eighteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 141-64 over the past seventeen seasons at Randolph County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times. They have won one region crown with Coach Prestridge. Coach Prestridge led to a state championship in 2003. His 158 wins rank 31st among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Prestridge's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of thirteen times and won one region championship.

The Tigers could continue the success of last season as several key players will be returning to the offense in 2023. With five more victories Randolph County can become the 95th team in Alabama to win their 500th football game.

The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage.

QB Avion Willis will be returning after completing 74 of 127 passes for 1,264 yards last season along with 19 touchdowns.

Austin Terrell will be back this season at running back after rushing for 884 yards and 5 TDs in 2022.

The Tigers open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Woodland on Friday, September 1 at Hulond Humphries Stadium. Last year the Woodland Bobcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 2A region four. The Bobcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Wadley by a score of 49-0.

Randolph County and Woodland have met a total of 79 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 53-24-2 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2022 with Randolph County winning by a score of 36-0.
